KEEP IT LIGHT
Effective use of light is important throughout. Several elements, for example, catch and reflect light in the powder room, among them cut-crystal faucets and beaded trim that accent the hand-painted silk drapery. In addition, the Venetian plaster on the walls and ceiling contains marble dust that shimmers under light.
Typical of homes in Aspen, the living room and other gathering spaces are situated on the top level of the house to fully appreciate the dramatic mountain views. The large dining room and kitchen, located in the center of the top floor, exhibit casual elegance. Rosettes and moldings are used to detail large, decorative wood beams. Dining chairs display different styles and fabrics, while bar stools sport skirts and tassels, creating an edgy, unexpected look.
Four-foot-high custom candelabrum cast warm light on the long dining table and create the effect of a chandelier. "The tongue and groove ceiling has so much detail that we didn't want a chandelier," Kubli states. continued...
