Medallions may be round, oval or octagonal, and feature flowers or other patterns that bring visual panache to a ceiling that may otherwise be flat and boring.

Other Uses
Medallions have other uses. Kubli had one client with an electrical box in the center of her living room ceiling. “But there was a chandelier in the foyer, so she didn’t want another one in the living room,” the designer says. “We used a medallion without a hole in it to cover the box. It became a decorative architectural statement.”

Medallions work the same way in the same way in bedrooms. “If you buy a premade one with a hole for electric, you can sometimes buy a cover for the hole from the same manufacturer,” Kubli says.

Medallions can also add interest to areas other than ceilings. “Sometimes I like to add small medallions to the corners of wall panels,” Kubli says. “The possibilities are endless.” <<<
