Today, tiles are made from an assortment of materials that offer wide versatility and visual variety. Homeowners can choose from ceramic, porcelain, terra cotta, honed or polished stones, glass and metals. "There are a vast array of stock shapes and sizes available," Kubli says. "Or you can special order custom tiles."

When decorating with tile, let imagination reign. Don't even think about being matchy-matchy. "The exciting way to use tile is to mix materials, sizes, shapes and textures to create something unique," Kubli says. continued…
