Sometimes a small and relatively inexpensive change can make a big difference in home décor. A case in point: ceiling medallions.

What They Are
A ceiling medallion is a decorative piece, usually attached to the base of a lighting fixture, so there is something between the fixture and the drywall. The medallion may be round, oval or octagonal, and feature flowers or other patterns that bring visual panache to a ceiling that may otherwise be flat and boring. “The designs vary from simple curves to flowers and fruits and geometrics,” says interior designer Eloise Kubli, owner of Collective Construction & Design in Plantation. continued
